The Recruitment Requirements - Candidates' Leadership Skills in Voluntary Military Service in Poland
Abstract
Abstract (English)This article examines the recruitment requirements for voluntary military service in Poland, focusing on the leadership competences expected of candidates. After compulsory conscription was suspended in 2008, the Polish Armed Forces shifted to a professional model supplemented by voluntary preparatory service. The author outlines the recruitment procedure — application, interview, medical and psychological examination, and basic and specialised training — and analyzes the leadership skills demanded of future commanders, including social, technical, conceptual and intercultural competences. The paper argues that leadership potential, alongside formal qualifications, plays a decisive role in candidate selection for a hierarchical, mission-oriented military organization.
