The Role of Foreground and Background in Consciousness and Behavior
Abstract
This document presents a theoretical model, developed within the author’s Nature Reflection Model framework, that redefines foreground and background as two dynamic, reciprocal positions — rather than fixed categories — within a continuous cognitive cycle. The model introduces four interacting positions (distribution, foreground, background, assessment) grounded in a developmental account of neuronal migration and cerebellar growth, a geometric model of concentric “coordinate circles” anchored on the thalamus, and a distinction between local balance and processing equilibrium in the role of the amygdala. The model is extended to special states (sleep, dreaming, imagination) and grounded in a proposed physical-biological substrate — Photonic Vibration Theory — including the hypothesis of thalamic biophoton emission. The document includes a section of testable predictions and a record of revised formulations reached through iterative theoretical dialogue.
