Abstract

FRS-01 v0.3 — File Reference Specification FRS-01 defines the normative file-reference-sha256-v1 profile for binding a Canal Transparency Protocol (PTC/CTP) declaration to the exact bytes of any file without converting, interpreting or modifying the source file. The specification defines a deterministic textual representation of a finite byte sequence based on the exact file size and its SHA-256 digest. This representation allows the existing PTC architecture to be applied to ZIP, PDF, images, audio, video, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, executables and other file formats that Validator does not need to interpret. FRS-01 specifies: SHA-256 calculation over the complete bytes of the source file; canonical serialisation of the PTC FILE REFERENCE descriptor; construction of the canonical object in accordance with R-01; integration with PTC-F without introducing additional PTC fields; verification of file size and SHA-256 against an available source; minimum conformance states for match, absence, inability to process and divergence; conformance vectors and negative test cases for independent implementations. The profile protects the exact binary identity of a file. It does not establish visual, semantic or functional equivalence between different files, nor does it certify authorship, legal validity, temporal priority or the material truth of the operator's declaration. FRS-01 does not modify R-01, PTC-F or ARCH. It forms part of the normative specification set of the Canal Transparency Protocol together with R-01, PTC-F, ARCH, PKG-02 and DCL-03. DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.21833853 Language editions This record contains the technically frozen v0.3 specification in Spanish, English and French. The Spanish version has linguistic precedence. The translations do not create, remove or modify normative obligations. The trilingual package includes the three language editions, the trilingual terminology and control protocol, a translation-control report and SHA-256 checksums. Human–AI transparency Final decision and responsibility: Manuel Barrera Anglada.Drafting and consolidation: GPT-5.6 Thinking (OpenAI).Adversarial review and controls: Claude Sonnet 5 (Anthropic) and DeepSeek, incorporated through cross-verification. Human review and final approval were retained throughout the process. Status: Technically frozen — authorised basis for implementation. Publication note: The publication package was corrected on 9 August 2026 to replace provisional translation and control artefacts with the final technically frozen trilingual set and its corresponding integrity and PTC evidence. No normative change was made to FRS-01 v0.3.
