Validator v1.1 — Reference Implementation of the Canal Transparency Protocol (PTC/CTP)
Abstract
Validator v1.1 Validator is the public reference implementation of the Canal Transparency Protocol (PTC/CTP), an open specification framework for creating and verifying transparency declarations about human–AI participation in digital objects. Validator creates cryptographically linked declarations and verifies their technical integrity and correspondence with the protected object according to the applicable PTC profile. The same static file tree is published at validator.es and distributed through this Zenodo record for local execution. There is no separate web and Portable edition: both forms of distribution use the same code, resources, languages, implemented specifications and capabilities. Processing takes place locally in the user’s browser. Validator requires no user account and does not need to upload the protected object to a remote processing service. Main capabilities Exact-file mode based on FRS-01, protecting the complete bytes of any finite digital file through its size and SHA-256 digest. Textual mode based on the canonicalisation rules of R-01. Official/reference mode for cases in which the source file is not available. Creation and verification of PTC declarations. Verification of the three normative PTC hashes. Preservation and verification of exact source files when applicable. Validator Package Format 2.0, with independent verification of the PTC declaration, source file, package structure and public disclosure when present. Optional verifiable public disclosure based on DCL-03. Optional publication artefacts and EU transparency icons when requested by the operator. TXT and Markdown textual workflows and PDF/DOCX adapters subject to their documented extraction limitations. Spanish, English and French interfaces. Identical execution from validator.es or from the locally preserved static distribution. Validator verifies technical integrity and cryptographic correspondence. It does not determine whether a declaration is materially true, certify authorship or originality, establish legal validity or temporal priority, prove regulatory compliance, or replace legal, scientific or expert assessment. Validator is their reference implementation; it does not itself constitute the protocol. Distribution and integrity This record distributes the same Validator publication that is deployed at validator.es for local, offline, intranet or preserved execution. The SHA-256 digest of the closed distribution ZIP is published externally in its filename. The digest is not embedded in the ZIP itself because doing so would alter the bytes it is intended to identify. Human–AI transparency Final decision and responsibility: Manuel Barrera Anglada. Architecture, drafting, implementation and technical consolidation: GPT-5.6 Thinking (OpenAI). Adversarial review: Claude Sonnet 5 (Anthropic). Independent review and cross-verification: DeepSeek. Human review, testing, decision-making and final approval were retained throughout the process. Previous publication Validator Portable v1.0.1 remains available as the previous historical release.DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.21579517 Status: Active — reference implementation.
