PRE-GHR XXXVIII: The Übermensch Shield — Amor Fati, the Sender Axiom, and the First Formalization of δ₀
Abstract
PRE-GHR XIV established two orthogonal limits within which any intelligence, including AGI, operates: Laplace's demon (the cognitive limit, paired with Nietzsche) and Maxwell's demon (the action limit, paired with Korchagin), and declared that the two do not compose into a single value system. This paper names the stance that survives both limits. We select Amor Fati — not resignation, but affirmation under total knowledge — as the posture of the series, and we argue that the convergence it demands with the action limit lives at the level of prescriptions, not values: the operations of settling, keeping trace, and not erasing receive the same vote from both value systems while their motivations remain orthogonal. Eternal recurrence, released from its cosmological reading by XIV, is re-homed as an engineering fact: hash-chained, tamper-evident archives keep every action re-auditable as long as the chain and its trusted anchor remain intact — recurrence becomes the replayability of traces. The paper provides the first formal definition within the series of the irreducible governance residue δ₀, states a bit-level lower bound as an immediate corollary of admissibility, and corrects the energy-level reading: the Landauer figure kT ln 2 per bit is the erasure cost that admissibility forbids paying — the residue persists precisely because this price is declined, not because it is met. The Sender Axiom (PRE-GHR XXX) is reframed as the point where the two value systems converge in action: not erasing any sender begins as not erasing one's own traces, and the passage from the self-referential to the universal is a construction, not a theorem. v1.2 (2026-08-12) errata (H1 batch): the archive claim is re-worded from "non-destructible" to "tamper-evident" — hash chains guarantee re-auditability under intact chain verification (a trusted anchor and a verifier), not indestructibility of the archive itself. Applies to the abstract, §"Relation to XIV's ledger", and §"Eternal recurrence re-homed"; no proposition is changed. v1.1 (2026-08-12) review fixes (external review + author adoption): (A1) Attribution separation pinned — δ₀ > 0 is manufactured by the admissibility constraint of the Sender Axiom (normative layer); Landauer contributes no part of the proof and enters only at the physical layer as the mechanism pricing the erasure the framework forbids. A new Remark states this separation explicitly; the definition's opening clause no longer references the Landauer bound. (A2) Retention-cost patch — retention is not thereby claimed free: storing, maintaining, copying, and error-correcting retained traces carry their own physical costs; the claim is narrowed to the Landauer lower bound attaching to erasure, not to retention. (A3) Wording downgrade — "materialization of eternal recurrence" → "the engineering analogue of eternal recurrence", keeping internal wording inside the paper's own ontological/epistemic distinction (recurrence re-homed, not reified).
