The Uneven Universe: Reinterpreting Spacetime and Matter through Entropy and Symmetry Breaking
Abstract
Abstract:Why does a universe exist, rather than an absolutely uniform, lifeless stillness? This paper proposes a core thesis: the essence of existence is inhomogeneity. Proceeding from thermodynamic entropy, the paper analyzes the complete dissolution of the concepts of time, space, and matter in the state of maximum entropy. This "heat death" end reveals that absolute uniformity is equivalent to absolute nothingness. The universe we inhabit exists precisely because of its deviation from this ultimate uniform ground state. This paper establishes "inhomogeneity" as the first principle of the universe and, following this thread, reinterprets the origin of time, space, and matter: time is the dynamic unfolding of inhomogeneity, with its one-way arrow rooted in the irreversibility of an initial low-entropy state; matter is the localized condensate of inhomogeneity, with its rest mass measuring the total amount of locked-in inhomogeneity, while the speed of light limit is the upper bound at which such a locked structure can maintain itself in spacetime. On this basis, the paper takes the law of parity nonconservation as physical evidence, demonstrating how symmetry breaking drives matter-antimatter asymmetry from the microscopic scale, thereby laying the material foundation of the observable universe. Finally, the paper breaks free from the shackles of the "Big Bang" metaphor and re-describes cosmic history as the continuous unfolding of inhomogeneity—a universe that is not a product of explosion, but a flux from primordial broken symmetry to the genesis of all things.
