MODAVIS Ontology Network 0.1.0
Abstract
MODAVIS 0.1.0 is a modular OWL, SKOS, and SHACL ontology network for evidence-backed, time-aware, and provenance-aware knowledge about musical instruments, their heritage contexts, digital representations, media, audio, and virtual instruments. The release contains immutable ontology modules, governed vocabularies, validation profiles, a JSON-LD context, examples, competency questions, documentation, a DCAT catalog, release manifests, checksums, and reproducible publication tooling. Pipe organs are a demanding flagship case rather than the universal model. Structural conformance does not certify the truth, adequacy, representativeness, or rights status of historical, scientific, attributional, or heritage claims. The initial release records accountable maintainer self-review and does not claim independent peer review or institutional endorsement. This software was developed during the PhD project MODAVIS (2022–2026), supported by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
