CrunchTope model input and output files for "The role of chlorate-driven oxidative weathering in shaping clay deposits on Mars"
Abstract
Initial release of the CrunchTope 1-D reactive transport model input and output files supporting: Wang & Fernandez (2026), "The role of chlorate-driven oxidative weathering in shaping clay deposits on Mars," Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets (manuscript 2025JE009493). Contents Base-case CrunchTope input file (1DMarsRTM_chlorate_base.in), mineral thermodynamic and kinetic database (martiandatabase.dbs), and aqueous species database (aqueous_chlorate.dbs) Output files for sensitivity analyses on dissolved chlorate concentration, pO2, pCO2, climate (flow rate and temperature, with corresponding rate-constant input files), and starting basalt mineralogy CrunchTope source code and executables are available at https://github.com/CISteefel/CrunchTope. See the README for file organization and instructions. This version corresponds to the accepted manuscript.
