Abstract

Abstract:Traité de Morale Générale by French philosopher René Le Senne is a foundational work of spiritualist ethics and value philosophy (axiology). Le Senne explores morality not as a mere system of social rules or biological instincts, but as a dynamic spiritual activity centered on duty, freedom, and personal responsibility. The book analyzes the tension between empirical reality and ideal values, arguing that moral life consists of overcoming obstacles to realize value in the world. By examining concepts such as conscience, suffering, obligation, and the absolute, Le Senne establishes a personalist framework where the individual continually strives toward moral perfection and spiritual elevation.
