China Daily River Discharge Records (CDR²) dataset

The China Daily River Discharge Records (CDR²) dataset provides satellite-extended daily river discharge records across China from 1990 to 2024. The dataset integrates approximately 2.33 million daily in situ discharge observations from 1,196 gauges, river width time series derived from Landsat-5/7/8 and Sentinel-2 imagery, and gauge-specific at-a-station hydraulic geometry (AHG) relationships to reconstruct and extend discharge records for 310 gauges across China. CDR² represents the most comprehensive gauge-constrained satellite-derived daily river discharge dataset currently available for China. Compared with existing global satellite-derived discharge products, CDR² substantially expands the availability of daily discharge observations across China while improving reconstruction accuracy
