The Harmonic Shell Model: An Octave-Shell Occupancy Descriptor as a Control for Spectral Processing
Abstract
SUPERSEDED VERSION — DO NOT USE FOR CURRENT IMPLEMENTATION.This v1.0 record is retained to preserve the original publication and priority record. It has been superseded by the corrected and audited v1.1 release. Please cite and use v1.1. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22675845 A dyadic partition of a sound's harmonic-index space, with the occupancy of the outermost occupied shell (computed from the actual harmonic support, not a count) exposed as a spectral-processing control. Corrects an earlier draft in which occupancy was determined by harmonic count. Includes the Valence reference implementation and a descriptor test-case set.
