Abstract

Here, we provide: The complete model code (MATLAB) of the 1.5-dimensional, Shallow Ice Approximation coupled debris-covered glacier model (Englacial Debris Solver) used in 'Feedbacks and timescales in the modelled transient response of debris-covered glaciers'. The model ouptuts and code (MATLAB) needed to reproduce all figures in 'Feedbacks and timescales in the modelled transient response of debris-covered glaciers'. Video supplements of 'Feedbacks and timescales in the modelled transient response of debris-covered glaciers'. 1. The model code, originally written by James C. Ferguson (Ferguson & Vieli, 2021; Ferguson, 2022) and adapted by Florian Hardmeier, contains four MATLAB files: EDS_driver.m (model code): the driver file that needs to be run by the user to start simulations EDS_config.m (model code): the configuration file, containing model parameters like bed geometry, equilibrium line, mass balance gradient, model timestep, etc. sia_ev.m (model code): updates ice thickness and velocity fields based on the Shallow Ice Approximation, is called by EDS_driver deb_ev_bd.m (model code): updates the depth-resolved englacial debris concentration, is called by EDS_driver vel_uw.m (model code): computes depth-resolved horizontal and vertical ice velocities, is called by EDS_driver 2. The code and necessary model outputs needed for all figures are also provided: EDS_figures.m (figure code): MATLAB code to produce all figures in the publication, segmented into sections (one per figure) model_runs.zip (model outputs for figure code): all model ouptut files needed to produce the figures, contains simulated timeseries of ice thickness, debris thickness, ice velocities, etc. 3. The video supplements includes two animations of model simulations: VS1_anim_stepch_100m_slow_compressed.mp4: repeated step-change (100m ELA change) warming and cooling experiment; along-flowline glacier geometry, englacial debris concentration, and debris thickness VS2_random_d_in_10yr_slow_compressed.mp4: random debris input (uniformly random rate between 1 and 8 mm/yr, changing every 10 years) experiment; along-flowline glacier geometry, englacial debris concentration, and debris thickness
