CARACTERIZAÇÃO acústica da vogal média posterior tônica na variedade do português marajoara
Abstract
This article was based on data from a doctoral thesis and presents an acoustic characterization of the stressed back mid vowel in the Portuguese variety of Breves, Curralinho and Portel, belonging to the group of cities in the Marajoara mesoregion. The Marajó archipelago is the largest fluvio-maritime island in the world and is located at the mouth of the Amazon River in northern Brazil, in the state of Pará. The initial hypothesis of the present study is that some posterior mid vowel realizations would behave like a tall contoid and later. However, the acoustic study of this variety of speech did not corroborate this hypothesis. For theoretical support, references such as Ladefoged (1981), Barbosa and Madureira (2015), Callou et al (1996), Peterson and Barney (1952), among others, were used. The methodological steps started from: i) data collection from the Phonetic-Phonological Questionnaire; ii) selection of controlled acoustic variables; and, iii) processing of acoustic data in Praat. The acoustic data were categorical regarding the absence of heightening, since, in the creation of an acoustic space that could show the effective behavior of the target vowel, the analyzed occurrences showed their distribution in the same region of the posterior mean [o], with mean value of F1 at 471 Hz and of F2, 956 Hz. This leads us to affirm in fact that it is the same vowel segment in this acoustic study.
