Replication package for "When a Buyout Fails in Public: Escalation, Discourse, and Institutional Response to Private Equity in Korea"
Abstract
Replication package for the research report "When a Buyout Fails in Public: Escalation, Discourse, and Institutional Response to Private Equity in Korea". The package contains the pre-registration with its amendment log, the public-authority action database (30 rows: 29 valid records plus one excluded under the coding rule, with the reason recorded, each carrying source URL, source tier and verification date), the frozen discourse lexicon as complete regular expressions, the discourse computation code, all aggregated tables behind the numbers in the manuscript, and the figures. The study reconstructs an eighteen-month escalation — from one portfolio company's rehabilitation filing to judicial, regulatory and legislative intervention — by process tracing, measures the accompanying shift in public discourse over a 68-month news corpus, reads it against the distribution of claims under the rehabilitation plan, and compares the sequence with three precedents in Germany (2005), the United Kingdom (2007) and the United States (2019). Article full texts and crawled article bodies are not released, for the licensing and copyright reasons stated in README.md; the collection settings are released instead. This report has a companion paper, "Where Private Equity Risk Lives", deposited separately; the shared components are duplicated into each package under shared/ and are byte-identical across the two deposits. Code within this deposit is licensed MIT; see LICENSE.md.
