Abstract

We present a formal framework for understanding and predicting the collapse and reconstruction of fundamental social coordination primitives under artificial intelligence-enabled capability shocks. AI introduces a deflationary shock to the marginal cost of symbolic action, resulting in hyperinflation of truth-claims and a collapse of coordination markets that rely on symbolic scarcity. Drawing on ancient Indian philosophical texts (Yoga Sutras, Arthashastra, Dharmashastra) and historical precedent, we model society as depending on a minimal set of irreducible primitives that enable collective action. We demonstrate that AI systematically attacks Class B coordination primitives (Attribution, Witness, Consequence, Authority, Memory, Information) while leaving Class A ontological primitives (Time, Embodiment, Scarcity, Violence) and Class C meaning primitives (Lineage, Ritual, Intimacy) relatively intact. Critically, we revise the cascade model to account for retroactive memory pollution (historical corpus corruption occurs simultaneously with information flood) and reframe Authority failure not as collapse but as degeneration into coercive, feudal, or symbolic forms. We derive a dependency graph showing that primitives fail in a predictable cascade, establish temporal phases of institutional response (Capability Shock, Narrative Patch, Regulatory Explosion, Market Stabilization), and construct a lead-indicator dashboard tracking cascade progression in real-time. Our model yields falsifiable predictions about institutional adaptation timelines (2023–2040), identifies the transition from ex-post punishment to ex-ante collateralization (the "Collateral Society"), and reveals gaming communities as 5–10 year lead indicators of state-level responses. This framework has implications for institutional design, regulatory policy, market timing, and understanding the fundamental restructuring of post-AI society. 1
