Abstract
収録ファイル: 日本語原版・英語版(各14頁)著者: nyun(Independent Researcher)版: Working Paper, Version 1.0 From Surplus Labour to Capital Accumulation: A Sequential-Provenance Reconstruction of Okishio and Matsuo This paper draws on the work of Nobuo Okishio and Tadasu Matsuo to reconstruct the relationship between surplus labour and capital accumulation without treating accumulation as a single analytical object. Its starting point is whether two economic processes that appear to represent the same capital accumulation are indeed equivalent. Equipment acquisition expenditure, realised profit, and the closing capital stock may coincide even when acquisition is financed through different means: pre-existing means of payment, bank credit, or trade credit. Conversely, identical coarse observations of the current state—such as capacity utilisation, the profit rate, and past accumulation rates—may be compatible with different amounts of feasible future accumulation when financial states differ. Okishio distinguishes surplus formation, accumulation demand, advance financing, profit realisation through sales, credit, and repayment. He also explicitly separates accumulation decisions from financing capacity. This paper reads Matsuo’s normative theory of labour value and his microfoundation of the Harrod–Okishio investment function as addressing two distinct questions: who controls accumulation, and how capitalists determine it. A third question concerns the financing path through which a given accumulation decision is implemented. Using Sequential Provenance Comparison (SPC), the paper compares three transaction protocols and shows that different direct financing modes can converge on identical equipment acquisition, realised profit, and selected closing accounting observations. It further establishes a conditional result: where an institutional setting permits different financial states under the same coarse dynamic state, the sets of feasible accumulation in the next period may differ. Both results are formulated as questions of observational sufficiency: whether the selected observations preserve the distinctions required by the analysis.
