Abstract

Two exact results complete the counter-twist programme of Notes 26 and 30. Counter-rotation in the plane. Two counter-rotated regular n-gons form the 2n-gon, whose third diagonal over the side is 1+2cos(π/n): for squares 1+√2 (silver), for hexagons 1+√3 (the twelvefold metal 2+√3 is the fifth diagonal), and for pentagons 1+φ=φ2 — not the golden ratio but the coupling constant of the flag universe's Einstein equation δ=f/φ2 (visible plus shadow). Bronze (3+√(13))/2 is no diagonal of any 2n-gon: it is a guest, never a rung, in agreement with the bronze limit of Note 26. The metallic roof and the derivation of φ (Note 30: two counter-twisted tetrahedra → icosahedron; tilted 24-cell → 600-cell) are one principle — counter-rotation — in two, three and four dimensions. Crossing identity. On commuting (golden) shell pairs every family carries (x,σ x) with x=p+q√5, so the ground-state value is x+g σ x and two families cross where Δ x+g σ(Δ x)=0, i.e. g*=-Δ a/σ(Δ a) and exactly Δ a2=-N(Δ a) g*. The rung g* is a unit and the gap is k times a unit with N(Δ a)=-k2: k=2 for the icosahedron (φ∓2), k=1 for the dodecahedron and the golden sector of the 120-cell (φ-6,φ-2,φ2), k=3 for the 600-cell (φ-6). The earlier hull inequality Δ a2≤10 g* is therefore the statement k≤3, verified in all golden bodies; the golden sector of the 120-cell carries a ladder although the full operator, with its silver, bronze and cubic guests, shows only avoided crossings.
