Abstract
This article aims to analyze and conceptualize the historiographical field known as Oral History, as well as to highlight its specific use and methodology. It also seeks to understand the concept of memory and its role within historical writing, especially its value in orality. Furthermore, it aims to present the memory of descendants of Syrian and Lebanese immigrants in the city of Passo Fundo, seeking to understand their testimonial oral history, that includes the search for a better life, the understanding of a collective memory, and social integration into the daily life of the city.
