THE EFFECT OF GENDER DIFFERENCES ON PEDIATRIC FRACTURES
Abstract
Pediatric fractures are among the most common injuries in childhood, and gender plays a significant role in their occurrence. The incidence of fractures is higher in boys, whereas girls tend to experience fractures at a younger age. This difference is attributed to biological, behavioral, and environmen-tal factors. Boys generally exhibit higher levels of physical activity and engage in riskier behaviors, whereas lower bone density and hormonal differences increase fracture risk in girls.
