TUMOR-RELATED PEDIATRIC FRACTURES AND TREATMENT APPROACHES
Abstract
Tumour-related paediatric pathological fractures are rare but clinically important problem in children. Such fractures are the result of weakening of the bone by benign or malignant tumours and usually occur with minimal trauma. Although benign lesions are more common in children, they usually have a good prognosis and can be effectively treated with surgical intervention. In contrast, fractures due to malignant tumours require prompt diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment, as these fractures usually occur in advanced stages of the tumour and may adversely affect the prognosis.
