IMPORTANCE OF EARLY DIAGNOSIS IN PEDIATRIC FRACTURES
Abstract
Pediatric fractures are one of the most common types of trauma in children and can lead to long-term disability and functional loss if not properly treated. The incidence of fractures varies according to age and anatomical region. The open growth plates, accelerated callus formation, and high remodel-ing capacity of bones are the primary characteristics that differentiate pediatric fracture healing from adults. Bone healing consists of three stages: inflammation, repair, and remodeling. Early diagnosis and treatment in pediatric patients are critical for preventing physeal injuries and long-term compli-cations. The treatment goals include achieving fracture stabilization, protecting soft tissues, enabling early mobilization, and facilitating a quick return to the child’s functional activities. Conditions such as open fractures, vascular injuries, and compartment syndrome require urgent surgical intervention. Early diagnosis and treatment of pediatric fractures are effective in preventing potential deformities and growth disorders, significantly improving the prognosis.
