PATHOLOGY, GENETICS AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY OF METASTATIC SPINAL TUMORS
Abstract
Spinal metastases from tumors of unknown primary origin are most commonly derived from malignant epithelial neoplasms. Accurate histopathological evaluation, along with molecular analysis, plays a vi-tal role in establishing the diagnosis and determining appropriate therapeutic strategies. Intraoperative frozen section examination may also provide critical guidance in defining the extent and approach of surgical intervention. Therefore, early and integrated pathological and molecular assessment is essen-tial for the optimal management of metastatic spinal tumors with an unknown primary source.
