GRISOTTI FLAP MAMMOPLASTY
Abstract
Breast-conserving treatment has shown remarkable oncologic results and is a suitable treatment for up to 73% of patients with breast cancer. Cosmetic results are good, but cosmetic results may be unsat-isfactory in patients with centrally located breast cancer. The Grisotti technique consists of excision of the central breast tumor together with the nipple areola and mobilization of an epithelialized der-mo-glandular flap to reshape the breast and reconstruct the areola. Repair with the Grisotti technique after central excision is suitable for retroareolar tumors and patients with ptotic breasts, where the need for symmetry is less likely. This technique can prevent deformation due to radiotherapy. The Grisotti technique is an easily applicable procedure without major complications. A oncologically safe central lumpectomy allows correction of the central glandular defect and reconstruction of a new areola.
