Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. It is generally treated in early stages with breast-conserving surgery (BCS) followed by radiotherapy (RT). Initially, oncoplastic surgical tech-niques were primarily utilized for cosmetic purposes; however, over time, they have begun to replace traditional BCS. Through oncoplastic breast surgery (OBS), even patients who were previously unsuit-able for BCS can now undergo breast-conserving procedures, with improved symmetry and cosmetic outcomes for the contralateral breast, thereby increasing patient satisfaction. Nevertheless, OBS has introduced uncertainties in RT applications, necessitating a multidisciplinary approach for compre-hensive patient evaluation. This section aims to address the role of radiation oncology following OBS.
