Successful Implantation in Advanced Maternal Age Following Adjunctive Hyaluronic Acid and Alpha-Lipoic Acid Therapy: A Case Report
Abstract
Advanced maternal age is associated with reduced implantation and pregnancy rates, even when assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as oocyte donation are employed. Adjunctive strategies aimed at improving endometrial receptivity may therefore be beneficial in selected cases. We report the case of a 49-year-old woman with a prior successful oocyte donation embryo transfer who experienced failure in three consecutive subsequent cycles. In a final attempt, she received a combination of hyaluronic acid and alpha-lipoic acid in the post-implantation period. The formulation used was a commercially available drug, EndoAura, containing hyaluronic acid and alpha-lipoic acid. The patient achieved conception in this cycle and currently has an ongoing pregnancy beyond the first trimester. This case suggests a possible supportive role of antioxidant and endometrial-modulating therapy in women of advanced maternal age with limited remaining reproductive opportunities.
