KRYSTALOGRAFIA NA WYDZIALE CHEMII UNIWERSYTETU WROCŁAWSKIEGO
Abstract
Crystallographic research has had a significant impact on the development of chemistry at the University of Wrocław from its inception. It was here that the first single-crystal diffractometer in Poland was purchased (in 1973). The Department of Crystallography was founded by Professor Tadeusz Głowiak, who was later followed by his students. This article describes the research conducted by the crystallography team from its inception to the present day. The team's research covers a wide range of chemistry, from coordination compounds of rhenium and manganese, through electron density studies, to the chemistry of macromolecules. Currently, the extensive equipment (four single-crystal diffractometers, two powder diffractometers) of the Crystallography Department provides broad structural research opportunities for all researcher at the Faulty of Chemistry. This article is an overview of various areas of chemistry conducted by crystallographers, both their own research and that conducted in cooperation with other research centers in Poland and abroad.
