Enfoques de la Educación Ambiental en Nicaragua

Central America is a region seriously affected by the environmental crisis that threatens life on our planet, and environmental education (EE) plays a crucial role in finding solutions to this crisis. In this article, I briefly outline the history and development of the concept of EE worldwide and its different approaches. In addition, I present a succinct revision of the history of EE in Nicaragua, its current situation, and the adoption of the environmental education for sustainable development (ESD) approach, whose main objectives include promoting critical thinking and stimulating the search for problem solving and decision making skills.
