Centering Oral Histories to Build Communities of Care in Troubling Times
Abstract
Abstract The practice of using and incorporating storytelling as a primary source of inquiry and dialogue can lead to meaningful dialogue and the building of communities of care, both at the university and in local communities. Our work in the classroom and with Latino communities requires us to situate the current historical context within histories of colonial violence and imperialism, to resist a single story of Latinos that leaves the status quo unchallenged.
