Abstract

Drug abuse among teenagers, especially high school students, is an increasingly alarming social and legal issue in Indonesia. Adolescents possess psychological characteristics that make them vulnerable to environmental influences, which can lead them to drug abuse that not only affects their physical and mental health, but also puts them at risk of being caught up in the criminal justice system. This community service activity aims to enhance students’ understanding of the dangers of drug abuse and to improve students’ legal awareness regarding criminal liabilities for drug offenses involving minors. The novelty of this activity lies in the integration of drug danger counseling with explicit legal education for minors, particularly concerning types of violations, legal grounds, and criminal liability of children. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study through educational outreach, interactive discussions, Q&A sessions, as well as pretest and posttest evaluations involving 46 students from the Prince Antasari Foundation Private High School, Deli Serdang Regency. The results of the service showed an increase in student understanding of the dangers of drugs from 52% to 85%, understanding of legal impacts from 48% to 78%, and an increase in commitment to avoid drugs from 60% to 90%. These findings indicate that integrated counseling based on legal education is effective in building students’ legal awareness and preventive attitudes toward drugs
