Abstract

More and more Chinese language classes around the world use computers and phones. So, typing Chinese characters on computers or phones becomes more common. Many teachers and researchers tell learners to type characters now. They say learners should not only write by hand. But there is not much research on how to teach Chinese learners to type well. Typing well means typing fast and without mistakes. So, this paper makes a simple typing course for Chinese learners who just start to type. This course has three parts: beginning to learn, typing faster, and practicing in real life. There are five lessons in total. The aim of this course is to help both teachers and students learn easy ways and skills to type Chinese characters. Besides, the paper also talks about when to start the course, how to teach it, what content to put in the course, and how to check if students have learned it well. This study can help teachers in international Chinese education teach typing better. It can also help future research on typing Chinese characters.
