Abstract

This study systematically reviews 17 academic papers on the experiences and resistance strategies of Chinese women from different social classes in the face of gender discrimination. It aims to reveal how class profoundly shapes women’s experiences of discrimination and their available pathways of action. The study adopts the SPIDER framework for literature screening and identifies commonalities and differences through cross-textual thematic analysis. The results show that: class position not only determines the types of discrimination women encounter, but also constrains the resource bases, risk-bearing capacities, and action opportunities for their resistance strategies; the digital environment, family structures, and labor systems exert differentiated effects on women of different classes, deepening the intersecting inequalities of gender and class. This paper further points out the limitations of current policies in addressing structural gender discrimination and puts forward more inclusive policy recommendations.
