Contemporary Applications and Future Prospects of Business Analytics
Abstract
Business analytics helps organizations turn data into decisions that improve performance. It combines statistics, machine learning, causal analysis, and optimization with cloud platforms and timely data. Today it supports marketing, operations, finance and human resources. Common applications include churn prediction, demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, fraud detection, inventory and scheduling, and workforce planning. This study asks three questions: which applications create the most value today, how business problems should be matched with descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive methods, and which operating practices turn models into results while protecting privacy and fairness? A review of recent evidence shows that value increases when analytics is tied to clear KPIs, simple experiments, and stable model operations, and when leadership, data quality, and process maturity are strong. Responsible controls reduce bias and model risk. Looking ahead, causal machine learning, process mining at scale, and decision automation will move analytics closer to the point of action. The aim is to offer a clear and useful guide with concrete indicators and steps that make adoption easier for managers and analysts.
