Abstract
The purpose of the article is to identify the key areas, potential and limitations of the development of cooperation between China and Russia in the field of renewable energy sources. The relevance of the research is due to the fact that the global energy transition is creating a new architecture of international cooperation, in which renewable energy sources are becoming a key element of energy security and climate policy. China and Russia, being major participants in the global energy market, express a strategic interest in the development of low-carbon generation, which enhances the importance of bilateral cooperation in this area. The study, based on the theory of comparative advantages and the analysis of scientific publications, examines the structure and dynamics of cooperation between the two countries in the field of wind, solar and hydropower. The results show a pronounced complementarity: China has technological and production potential in the field of renewable energy, while Russia has an extensive resource and territorial base capable of becoming a space for large-scale generation development. It is shown that Sino-Russian cooperation is developing unevenly and faces a number of limitations, which include the asymmetry of technological maturity, volatility of energy markets and increased investment risks. The weak dynamics of renewable energy growth in Russia and China's dependence on energy imports determine the need for institutional alignment of interests and adaptation of interaction mechanisms. The paper formulates directions for deepening partnership, including harmonization of regulatory and technical requirements, expansion of joint projects, development of cross-border infrastructure and risk management mechanisms.
