Abstract

The metallic glass Fe 73.5 Cu 1 Nb 3 Si 13.5 B 9 is a good example of a soft ferromagnetic material. As such it has been important not only as the precursor of the nanocrystalline Fe 73.5 Cu 1 Nb 3 Si 13.5 B 9 magnetic alloy, which is a paradigm of a soft ferromagnetic material patented under the trade name Finemet [1], but also by opening up opportunities for the developing of new materials [2] and exploring several phenomena and changes of universality class [3] by replacing Fe by another atom such as Co, Cr, Mn, and Ni.Particularly, we have focused our study on the Chromium (x) concentration dependence of structural and magnetic state of the Fe 73.5-x Cr x Cu 1 Nb 3 Si 13.5 B 9 varying from 0 to 20 (at.%) on the road to percolation concentration x p ≅ 22.5% (at.%) [4].
