Abstract

ABSTRACT Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most influential technologies transforming the retail industry across the world. The integration of AI in retail business has significantly changed the way customers search for products, make purchase decisions, and interact with brands. This research paper aims to study the role of Artificial Intelligence in retail business with special emphasis on enhancing the customer shopping experience. The study focuses on understanding customer perceptions, satisfaction levels, and challenges associated with AI-based retail services in the Indian context. The research is based on both primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected through a structured questionnaire from 100 respondents who have experience with AI-enabled retail platforms such as e-commerce websites, mobile applications, and in-store technologies. Secondary data was collected from journals, books, research articles, and industry reports. Statistical tools such as percentage analysis and Chi-square test were used for data analysis and hypothesis testing. The findings reveal that AI plays a significant role in improving shopping convenience, personalization, and service efficiency. However, concerns related to data privacy, lack of human interaction, and trust remain major challenges. The study concludes that AI can effectively enhance customer shopping experience if implemented ethically, transparently, and in a customer-centric manner.
