Abstract

This article summarizes the nursing experience of applying the Huolong cupping therapy based on the theory of lung's regulation of water passage in treating one case of excessive airway mucus secretion during the acute exacerbation period of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. An advanced nursing assessment on five dimensions including disease symptoms, health status, physiological function, self-care ability, risks and complications, as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine nursing assessment, were carried out before intervention. Based on clinical guidelines, evidence-based practice and clinical experience, the Huolong cupping therapy, active cycle breathing technique, respiratory rehabilitation nursing and exercise care were formulated and implemented for the patient, effectively relieving the excessive airway mucus secretion and improving the patient's quality of life.
