Integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing of a patient with coronary heart disease complicated by pulmonary infection
Abstract
This study aimed to explore the application effect of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing in a complex emergency case of coronary heart disease (CHD) with multiple underlying diseases and pulmonary infection. For a patient whose early myocardial infarction markers turned from negative to positive and whose family’s treatment decision shifted from refusal to agreement, interventions were implemented in stages under the Western medicine framework of "risk stratification–dynamic monitoring–precise rescue, " integrated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approaches such as "syndrome differentiation nursing–emotional regulation nursing–characteristic techniques. " These interventions included rapid triage, identification of critical transitions, medication adjustment, family communication, and comprehensive management of underlying conditions. The results indicated that during emergency care, the patient's high fever, chest pain, and infection were preliminarily controlled. Dynamic nursing monitoring promptly captured evidence of myocardial infarction, assisted in the shift of family decision-making, and created conditions for subsequent interventional surgery. This model can effectively address the challenges of significant disease fluctuation and difficult decision-making in complex emergency cases, integrating the advantages of both Chinese and Western medicine to enhance the precision and safety of care, thus providing a reference for similar nursing practices.
