Abstract

This paper summarizes integrated traditional Chinese and western nursing for a patient with decline of lower limb muscle strength after surgery for type A aortic dissection. Based on the perioperative management such as cerebrospinal fluid drainage and passive movement, Tradition Chinese Medicine theory of Zhiwei Duqu Yangming and clearing and activating the channels and collaterals was adopted to guide the practice of individualized interventions including acupoint massage along the meridians, auricular acupoint pressing, modified Baduanjin exercise and dietary therapy by syndrome differentiation. The combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and western medicine promotes the recovery of muscle strength of lower limbs, and enhances the functional recovery level and quality of life of critically ill patients during the perioperative period.
