Rapid Urbanization and Revival of Environmental Damage and Its Conservation Through Interdisciplinary Strategies
Abstract
Rapid urbanization has emerged as a defining trend of the 21st century, leading to unprecedented ecological stress across global metropolises. This research paper explores the multifaceted environmental damage caused by rapid urban expansion and investigates interdisciplinary strategies for its revival and conservation. The study uses secondary data from international agencies, academic journals, and policy reports to analyze the interconnected role of urban planning, environmental science, civil engineering, economics, sociology, and governance in sustainable urban development.Key findings highlight that while urban growth often leads to ecological degradation-such as deforestation, air and water pollution, loss of biodiversity, and shrinking green cover-integrated interdisciplinary strategies offer a viable roadmap to revive and sustain urban ecosystems.Case studies from India and other rapidly urbanizing countries showcase the successful implementation of eco-restorative measures through collaborative frameworks. The study underscores the importance of interdisciplinary synergies and policy coherence in designing eco-friendly cities, while also outlining practical recommendations and future research directions.
