AI & ML for Sustainability
Abstract
This study aims to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in promoting sustainability across sectors such as energy, agriculture, water management, and urban planning. The purpose is to understand how these technologies are evolving, identify current trends, and highlight opportunities and challenges in applying AI and ML to support sustainable development.A comprehensive literature review was conducted to examine recent research in this field. The study focused on tools and approaches such as predictive models, optimization algorithms, real-time monitoring systems, and the integration of AI and ML with big data and IoT technologies. The findings show that AI and ML can significantly enhance efficiency, productivity, and environmental outcomes. In energy, they help optimize renewable integration and reduce waste; in agriculture, they support precision farming; and in urban planning, they improve resource management. The implications for policymakers include the need for clear guidelines, ethical frameworks, and to ensure responsible and impactful use of AI and ML.
