Role of Homoeopathic Remedies in the Management of Chronic Sinusitis: A Narrative Review
Abstract
Chronic sinusitis is a long-standing inflammatory disorder affecting the paranasal sinuses and is associated with symptoms such as nasal blockage, facial discomfort, mucopurulent nasal discharge, and significant impairment of quality of life.Despite advances in conventional medical and surgical management, achieving sustained symptom control remains difficult, with frequent relapses reported. In this context, complementary systems of medicine, including homeopathy, have attracted interest due to their individualized and holistic therapeutic approach. The present review aims to examine the role of homeopathic remedies in the management of chronic sinusitis and to assess their potential value as a complementary treatment option.A narrative review of relevant medical and homeopathic literature was undertaken using standard textbooks and peer-reviewed journals, with emphasis on disease pathophysiology, shortcomings of conventional therapy, homeopathic principles, and commonly prescribed remedies.Homeopathy may represent a safe and individualized adjunct in the management of chronic sinusitis, particularly in recurrent and chronic presentations; however, robust randomized controlled trials are required to confirm its clinical effectiveness Keywords: Chronic sinusitis, Homeopathy, Complementary medicine, Nasal polyps, Individualized treatment Commonly Indicated Homeopathic RemediesThe selection of a homoeopathic remedy depends on the totality of symptoms.Commonly used remedies include [6,7]:
