Abstract

The growing need for energy efficiency has increased the adoption of smart lighting systems, as lighting consumes a major share of electrical energy in buildings and public spaces. This paper presents an IoT-based Smart Light Control System designed to reduce energy wastage by automatically controlling lighting based on natural sunlight availability.A Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) is used to measure ambient light intensity, and a NodeMCU (ESP32) microcontroller processes the sensor data and controls the lighting through a relay module. When sufficient daylight is available, the lights are switched off, while during low-light or nighttime conditions, they are automatically turned on.IoT integration enables remote monitoring and manual control. The system is developed using Arduino IDE with Embedded C++ and is cost-effective, reliable, and easy to implement. The proposed solution promotes energy conservation and supports sustainable smart living.
