Evaluating the Impact of Project Management Software Adoption on Property Development Performance in Rivers State
Abstract
Project management software plays a critical role in enhancing efficiency, coordination, and performance in construction projects. However, evidence suggests that many property development companies in Rivers State do not adopt such software, resulting in inefficient cost control, poor communication, inadequate documentation, and weak scheduling practices in property development. The study evaluates the impact of project management software usage on property development performance and examines its implications for real estate investment analysis in Rivers State. The study population comprised property developers, and Estate Surveyors and Valuers.Data were collected using structured questionnaires and oral interviews.A sample of 184 Estate Surveyors and Valuers was drawn from the 340 registered members of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Rivers State Branch, while 12 real estate developers selected from the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Rivers State Branch, were interviewed. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, and the findings from the study area indicate that improved project completion time is the most significant impact derived from the adoption of project management software.Based on these findings, the study recommends that construction firms broaden their use of project management software to include cost control, risk management, quality assurance and communication functions.
