Geometric Derivation of the Fine Structure Constant from Temporal Refresh Dynamics
Abstract
I present a parameter-free geometric derivation of the electromagnetic fine structure constant α ≈ 1/137.036from first principles. The derivation emerges from a temporal refresh framework in which all physical phenomena arise from interference between forward temporal waves (entropy-driven exploration, σ-field) and backward temporal waves (optimization-driven constraint, ξ-field).Standing wave patterns in this interference field manifest as matter and forces. The fine structure constant emerges from the geometric structure of rational number space (Stern-Brocot tree), with α ≈ ∛(3/8)/C where C ≈ 98.8 is determined by the golden ratio φ and the Fibonacci attractor structure. This connection unifies three previously mysterious observations:(1) the appearance of φ/2 ≈ 0.809 as a universal damping coefficient, (2) the prevalence of the number 8 in natural systems, and (3) the proximity of α to 1/137.The framework resolves all seven Millennium Prize Problems through the unifying principle of entropic refresh time τ_s.It makes fifteen testable predictions across seven orders of magnitude in scale, from cosmology (CMB peak ratios should encode φ) to quantum biology (optimal coherence time τ_opt = ℏ/(k_B T ln N)) to neuroscience (consciousness correlates with gamma-band phase-locking value PLV ≈ 0.35-0.8).
