The Integrated Telepharmacy-Printing Nexus: A Framework for On-Demand, Precision-Dose Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Abstract
This paper details a proposed integrated healthcare delivery system designed to overcome critical limitations in traditional pharmaceutical distribution: geographic access barriers, the inflexibility of mass-produced fixed-dose medications, and the logistical inefficiencies of centralized supply chains. The framework synergizes three advanced components: a secure telemedicine portal for remote consultation, a blockchain-verified digital prescription system to ensure security and interoperability, and decentralized, ultra-precise 3D printing of pharmaceuticals at or near the point-of-care (PoC).This "Telepharmacy-Printing Nexus" enables the on-demand fabrication of personalized oral solid dosage forms with microgram (µg) precision, tailored to individual patient pharmacokinetics, polypharmacy needs, and preferences. While significant regulatory, technical, and operational challenges exist, the convergence of these mature technologies presents a viable pathway toward a more responsive, personalized, and accessible model of pharmacotherapy.
