Abstract

PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of adjusting the initial injection volume, the importance of retouch procedures in achieving optimal penile appearance, and the role of hyaluronic acid (HA) filler reinjection in maintaining penile augmentation. Additionally, patient decision-making factors regarding penile girth enhancement (PGE) with HA were assessed in a 1-year, prospective, open-label, exploratory study conducted at a single center by an experienced operator. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty patients were enrolled in the study between November 2023 and February 2024. Assessments included penile girth, stretched penile length, satisfaction with penile appearance, and self-reported sexual satisfaction at baseline and 4, 12, 24, and 48 weeks after injection of the CHAEUM SHAPE 10 (Volus 10) HA filler. RESULTS: Twelve of the 20 patients (60%) had prior experience with PGE using HA. The mean penile girth at the proximal, midshaft, and distal sites increased significantly at 4 weeks and remained stable through 48 weeks. Penile length increased from 12 weeks onward and was maintained for up to 48 weeks. Appearance satisfaction scores improved from 2.15±0.72 to 3.95±1.12, in 80% (16/20) of patients. Sexual satisfaction scores rose from 2.50±0.92 to 3.95±0.67, with 85% (17/20) of patients shifting from dissatisfaction to satisfaction by 48 weeks. No serious adverse events were observed. CONCLUSIONS: PGE with HA filler resulted in significant and sustained improvements in penile girth, penile length, appearance satisfaction, and sexual satisfaction for 1 year without serious adverse events. Retouch procedures to correct uneven distribution and HA reinjection to maintain augmentation were identified as key factors for long-term success, rather than filler longevity alone.
