RENDERING VULGARISMS IN CHARACTERS’ SPEECH IN LITERARY TRANSLATION
Abstract
This article examines the social and spiritual nature of curses in various cultures, their place in human relationships, and their negative impact. Curses often serve as a means of expressing emotional states such as anger, hatred, or resentment, and through them a person’s moral level, cultural maturity, and social status are reflected. In the process of translating such lexical units, the translator faces a serious challenge, since creating a character’s portrait requires not only choosing the appropriate linguistic means, but also deeply understanding the character’s emotional experiences, inner world, and attitude toward reality.
