Abstract

The article examines Ukrainian enterprises as objects of innovative influences in the context of economic transformation, wartime risks, structural imbalances, and limited financial resources. The purpose of the study is to generalize theoretical and applied approaches to understanding enterprise innovation development and to identify the financial, organizational, and institutional factors shaping business innovation activity in Ukraine. To achieve this goal, the study applies methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, comparison, and generalization of academic sources, statistical materials, and international innovation indicators. The paper systematizes approaches to interpreting the innovative development of enterprises, substantiates the importance of external financing for the implementation of innovative projects, characterizes the main risks of innovation activity, and outlines the role of state support and alternative financing mechanisms. Ukraine’s positions in the Global Innovation Index and the European Innovation Scoreboard are analyzed together with the dynamics of enterprise innovation activity across major types of economic activity. The study demonstrates that, despite wartime challenges and limited institutional resources, Ukrainian enterprises retain the capacity for technological modernization, digitalization, managerial and product innovation, and participation in the startup ecosystem. It is argued that the effectiveness of innovation development depends not only on the scale of state support but also on enterprises’ ability to combine multiple funding sources, manage risks, cooperate with research institutions, and adapt business models to conditions of instability. The practical value of the study lies in the development of recommendations. aimed at strengthening the innovation resilience of Ukrainian business under wartime and post-war economic transformation. It is concluded that innovation should be perceived not only as a mechanism aimed at improving the competitiveness of individual enterprises but also as a fundamental instrument of structural modernization, recovery of productive capacity, and long-term economic growth in Ukraine.
