Analisis HOTS Buku Teks Rancagé Diajar Basa Sunda Kelas VII SMP Kurikulum Merdeka
Abstract
This study explores the Rancagé Diajar Basa Sunda textbook for Grade VII, which is based on the Merdeka Curriculum and particularly emphasizes on how Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are applied throughout its content. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach and analyzes the textbook through a HOTS evaluation framework adapted from the revised Bloom’s taxonomy. Data were derived from documentation of all chapters and then organized, summarized, and interpreted to understand the proportion and distribution of cognitive levels. The results indicate that among 283 total contents, 95 (33.56%) are categorized as HOTS, while 190 (67.14%) belong to LOTS. The C5 (evaluating) level dominates the HOTS category, whereas C4 (analyzing) and C6 (creating) occur less frequently. The types of stimuli found mostly consist of discourse-based texts with limited visual presentation. Although HOTS indicators are integrated into the material, their percentage remains below the recommended standard of 40–60%. Hence, further enrichment of content and greater variation in stimuli are suggested to strengthen students’ ability to think critically, analytically, and creatively in learning the Sundanese language.
