Abstract

To develop human mandible fractures 3D models (3D HMF) and analyze their respective radiographs. The study was conducted on the 3D Educational Technologies Lab, at Federal University of Acre, and fallowed two steps: 1. The creation of 3D Human Mandible Fractures (3D HMF); 2. radiographic evaluation of 3D HMF. The creational step of the 3D models was subdivided into three processes: a. Digitalizing the piece in natura; b. Editing and modelling the 3D digital files; c. Printing the 3D HMF. The 3D HMF reproduced the main characteristics of each type of Human Mandible Fracture. The 3D HMF creation and printing total time was 21.5 hours, using 7.28 oz. of filament (ABS), a total cost of $7.90. The 3D HMF radiographs, and its different positions, have shown the effect representation of the possible mandible fractures. The 3D HMF and its respective radiographs represented the main anatomic structures and fracture lines visualized in the human mandible at a low cost, which might be used as didactic material for the Odontological teaching.
